CRIMINAL DEFENCE, REGULATORY AND TRAFFIC OFFENCES

Clutch Legal advise and act for clients dealing with investigations and charges from all kinds of investigative and prosecuting bodies in Qld and the Commonwealth.

Investigation

You may be requested to assist with an inquiry or participate in an interview with Police or other investigative bodies. If you are unsure about how to deal with such a request, we always recommend seeking advice first.

All too often we see people do themselves a disservice by participating in interviews or providing information without getting advice. Police conduct hours of preparation for their interviews, so why wouldn’t you get advice first?

Dealings with police or authorities are nerve-wracking at the best of times. There is a mountain of legislation and policy that governs how interviews and investigations are to be conducted.

We can advise you on your right to silence, the interview process or any other legal aspect of an investigation.

Criminal defence

We act for individuals and corporations in respect of charges brought before Queensland Courts for criminal and regulatory offences.

We have defended clients charged with offences in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Court and litigated appeals in the Queensland Court of Appeal.

Clutch Legal are able to act in all matters before our criminal courts, including bail applications, trials, sentences, committal hearings or any other court matter.

Inquiries

From time to time, people are required to appear to give evidence or produce documents to inquiries, including the Crime and Corruption Commission, Coronial Hearings and other inquiries commissioned by Parliament.

The function of inquiries is to make findings of fact about issues, usually of public interest. They do not themselves make orders against persons or compel individuals, business or governments to do certain things. However, the inquiries can make recommendations or findings adverse to your interests.

There can be important steps to be taken in the course of inquiries to protect your interests and ensure that your rights are maintained at every step in the process.
